II. Adhesion Promotion -

The basic treatments employed as prime coats and cover coats for adhesion of rubber to textile include:

1. RFL (Resorcinol-Formaldehyde-Latex) dips -

b. Nitrile - for NBR, SBR
c. SB Vinylpyridine - for SBR, EPDM, butyl
Substrates include: Nylon (scoured and heat set), fiberglass, polyester,
cotton and Kevlar* see footnote1.

2. Polymer/resin (crosslinked) -
for adhesion to fluoroelastomers,
i.e. bio-phenol cured Fluoroelastomer Viton* - see footnote2.
Subtrate: Nylon, Kevlar*.

3. Silicone -
reactive silane for specialty elastomers and peroxide cured silicone rubber
Subtrate: Nylon, Kevlar*,Nomex* see footnote1.
